With the addition of Aurora FC and CFA Aurora FC the MPL has created their long desired promotion relegation system in the Eastern Conference. The Northeast Regional division will carry 4 teams adding Aurora FC to Indios Denver FC, Folsom Fight FC Red, and Peak Eleven FC. The Southeast Regional division will carry 4 teams as well putting Timbers SC with CO Switchbacks 2, Carson FC, and Young Gunz FC. Each Regional division will play 6 division games 3 home 3 away, and 4 crossover games vs the opposite region, 2 home 2 away, 10 games total. Each team will get an 11th playoff game at seasons end with the North and South champions meeting in the MPL final. The State division will have 5 teams, 4 reserve teams of the regional division sides. Indios Denver and Aurora FC will play with their u20s, while Folsom Fight FC and Peak Eleven FC will field their reserves. CO Babondo FC the Black Lions being the only team in the state division that is eligible will expect to find their level and push for promotion into the Regional division for the Fall 2025 season. The State division teams will play 4 home 4 away and 2 promotion playoff cross over games vs Regional division sides to determine the winner who will if eligible promote for the Fall season. The MPL Western Conference is still alive but has not seen more than 2 or 3 teams apply to join within the same season since 2021, with the loss of momentum resulting from COVID 19.
Aurora FC and CFA Aurora FC GM Odias Valenzuela joined MPL to discuss the excitement around joining the league, "Our club is excited to join the MPL for 2025 season, and compete against the top clubs in the state of Colorado". Odias shed some light on what we can look forward to with Aurora FC joining, lour club is well known in our style of play. Most of our players have trained and play futsal and some players currently play for our CO Futsal Academy men's team in the National Futsal Premier League." Odias expanded on the clubs style of play, 'the team has a combination of local college players and international players. This has allowed our club and coaches to create a very unique style of play." No notable players were specifically provided when asked, but Odias did mention that, "the mix of backgrounds and styles will be exciting to watch our players on the pitch. Tryouts happened in October of 2024". Some of Aurora FC's history includes participation in the UPSL over the past 4 years where they were a finalist in the division twice. The club doesn't currently carry a nickname, however they are evolving and are a force on the field.
Mountain Premier League is a NISA Affiliated league sanctioned with US Soccer under US Adult Soccer Association as a multi-state regional league competing year round. MPL teams are eligible for US Adult National Amateur Cup, US Open Cup, NISA Independent Cup, and NISA Nation National Championship.
